Ginger wins Super Smash Bros. Melee Singles at LACS Qualifier #2 –

Avery “Ginger” Wilson won the Super Smash Bros. Melee Singles at Rona Rumble: LACS Qualifier #2 on July 12, 2020. It was the second and final qualifier event for the upcoming Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series 2. Following the tournament, Ginger noted on Twitter that it was the largest tournament he had ever won. (306 people entered.)

I was challenged by a bunch of people today, but I was able to come out on top. I know this was a netplay tournament, but I think this was technically the largest tournament I’ve ever won 🙂

Ginger cruised through pools flawlessly, with 2-0 wins over the likes of Michael “Quiggles” Abu-halagah and Dylan “Dawson” Dougherty. Naturally, the competition grew fiercer once Ginger entered the top 64. Even so, he advanced into top 24 by defeating Jonathan “TheRealThing” Clinton 3-2 and Jason “Just Jason” DiMicelli 3-1.

In Winners Quarters, Ginger beat Duncan “SDJ” Meara 3-1. Then, he earned another 3-1 win in Winners Semis, this time against Colin “Colbol” Green. Ginger ultimately dominated the LACS Qualifier #2 run. He won the tournament with 3-0 victories over Arthur “404Cray” Hernandez and Andrew “Chem” Khalili. Notably, Ginger’s final game against Chem was a four-stock, with Chem forfeiting his last stock of the match.

Along with Ginger, the following players qualified for the Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series 2 through the LACS Qualifier #2:

Chem scored many impressive upsets en route to the outstanding 2nd place finish at Rona Rumble: LACS Qualifier #2. Initially, he beat players like Alexander “Komodo” Neal and Christopher “Ober” Rodbourne, before dropping a set to Colbol. Afterward, Chem went on a deep losers run. In the process, he eliminated Zhu, Drephen, SDJ, Logos, billybopeep, KJH, and 404Cray.

Similarly, 404Cray had an unexpected run through the winners bracket, ultimately reaching Winners Finals on his way to 3rd place. His LACS Qualifier #2 run included upset wins over htwa, 2saint, and Kuyashi. 404Cray also beat Quaff in Winners Quarters, followed by another upset over billybopeep in Winners Semis.
