WISE Esports Ventures, the parent company of Call of Duty League franchise Minnesota Røkkr, has officially adopted the name and branding utilized by its Rocket League team, Version1. All future teams outside of Activision Blizzard’s franchise ecosystem (which requires distinct team branding) will operate under the Version1 brand going forward.
To kick off the official rebrand, Version1 has signed a new Valorant roster which previously competed under the name NeverDone to represent the brand alongside its professional Rocket League squad.
According to a release, the WISE Ventures name was always intended to be temporary, with the company now ready to establish a permanent brand identity and “facilitate continued growth.”
The company is owned by the Wilf family and Gary Vaynerchuk and was established with the owners’ acceptance into the CDL as the Minnesota franchise which would eventually become the Minnesota Røkkr. Version1 is headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota on the Viking Lakes campus.
