T1 Partners With China’s Short-Form Video Platform Kuaishou

T1 Entertainment & Sports has signed a partnership deal with Chinese short-form video company Kuaishou. Kuaishou will become the official short-form video partner of the organization, providing it exclusive short-form video content. 

This is the first partnership that Kuaishou has signed with an esports organization not native to China. It’s not clear whether the deal includes logo placement on T1’s team jerseys.  

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 

Kuaishou and ByteDance’s Douyin (the Chinese version of Tik Tok)  are the two biggest short-form video platforms in China. Tik Tok is also one of several sponsors of South Korea’s top League of Legends competition, the League of Legends Champion Korea (LCK).

This partnership covers all of T1’s esports teams: League of Legends, Dota 2, PUBG, and VALORANT. In August, T1 expanded a multi-year live streaming partnership with Twitch, beyond just focusing on its League of Legends team. The team also has a Chinese live streaming partnership deal with DouYu.

In December of 2019, Tencent invested $2B USD in the Kuaishouou as part of a nearly $3B series F funding round. 

During the Tencent Global Esports Summit on Aug. 24, Kuaishou announced that the company acquired Chinese Honor of Kings team and KPL franchisee YTG, which it rebranded to KS.YTG. Reportedly, YTG was expected to sell its KPL slot and players for an initial bid price of ¥61M RMB ($8.82M).

On Aug.30, T1 signed a partnership deal with Southeast Asian betting outlet Yibo for its Dota 2 division.
