The next Hearthstone expansion is Saviors of Uldum

When players last went through a Hearthstone expansion, they helped the League of EVIL take the magical floating city of Dalaran in Rise of Shadows. The next expansion is a direct sequel to that narrative, and it is called Saviors of Uldum. Saviors of Uldum will launch on Aug. 6.

Saviors of Uldum will include 135 new cards. Uldum was introduced in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, and is an Egyptian-themed zone that hides Titan constructions beneath its sands. Uldum is under attack by the League of EVIL and the stolen, magical city of Dalaran. Hence, the titular saviors of Uldum are tasked with stopping the League from stealing powerful Titan technology.

The new keyword players will need to know is “reborn.” Reborn minions will return to life after being destroyed for the first time, and will spawn with one remaining health. There’s also a new spell type in “plagues”. Priest, Shaman, Warrior, Warlock, and Rogue, the five classes who represent the league of EVIL, will receive plagues. These powerful spells affect every minion on the board, meaning that they can very easily be a double edged sword.

A new set of quest cards is also coming to Saviors of Uldum that can be played upon a hero’s first turn. Their progress is tracked above the hero portrait, and upon completion, will reward the player with a new hero power.

Players will be able to pre-purchase Saviors of Uldum card packs. The 50-pack bundle, which is available for $49.99 includes a random golden Legendary card from the expansion and an Elise Starseeker themed card back. The $79.99 80-pack Mega Bundle contains those bonuses and a new Elise Starseeker Druid Hero.

More details will be released on Saviors of Uldum in the weeks to come, including on its story based solo adventure, which is set to unlock in September.
