Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Is #1 In The UK Sales Chart, Knocking Cyberpunk 2077 To #3

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has returned to the top of the UK sales chart, while Cyberpunk 2077 has already dropped to third place.

Cyberpunk 2077 debuted at #1 in the UK sales chart, as it was one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020. This was before the word got out about the game’s condition on various platforms. The console ports of Cyberpunk 2077 are a mess, to the point where Sony removed the game from PSN, and Microsoft put a warning on the game’s page on the Xbox Store.

There are some games that linger in the UK sales chart throughout the years, but Cyberpunk 2077 might not be one of them. According to Games Press, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has returned to the top spot in the UK sales chart, while Cyberpunk 2077 has dropped to third place. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has remained in second place.

Cyberpunk 2077 has also dropped to third place in the Steam Charts, which is a little more surprising, considering that the PC version is the one that is the most stable. CD Projekt Red only issued review copies for the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077 before launch, which meant that most outlets were unaware of the condition of the console ports when the game was released.

CD Projekt Red has lost a lot of goodwill over the Cyberpunk 2077 launch fiasco, and it will take a long time before they are back in the good graces of the fans. It’s not impossible, however, as other games have also risen from the ashes of a horrendous launch. The response to Cyberpunk 2077 caused Fallout 76 and No Man’s Sky to trend on Twitter, as they also launched in incomplete states, and were eviscerated by the public and the press. Those games proved that they could become worthwhile over time, and the Cyberpunk 2077 audience might change its tune in a few months, when the fervor dies down and the game is in a more playable state. As it stands, Cyberpunk 2077 is likely to keep dropping down the chart for the foreseeable future.
