The next big Call of Duty Warzone event is scheduled to kick off later this week, and gamers still have plenty of time to prepare.
As Battle Royale fans will already know, the long-rumoured destruction of Verdansk is finally upon us, with the latest reports suggesting that new points of interest and locations will be part of the Season 3 launch.
The next few days could be frantic, as Warzone fans now know just how long they have until the end of the current Battle Pass.
But there might also be a lot of fans preparing for the destruction of the Verdansk map, which is set to undergo some major changes.
So if you’re a fan of locations like the Dam or Stadium, it might be worth getting in as many drops before the big Warzone event.
Having been leaked a few months ago, gamers have been told that a Nuclear explosion was being planned to destroy the map.
This would be part of a larger event, and would likely be available to watch in-game at different locations.
And now we know the title of the new event, and when it is going to kick off, gamers have a good schedule to work with.
WHAT IS THE CALL OF DUTY WARZONE EVENT TIME?
This week, Activision has announced that the Call of Duty Warzone event time has been set for 8pm BST, on Wednesday, April 21.
For gamers in the United States, the same event will be going live in-game at the earlier time of 12pm PST.
This will be a unified event, meaning it will be going live at the same time across PS4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
But the big thing to note here is that while gamers will be able to drop in together and view what happens to Verdansk, it’s not going to be a fully live event.
Instead of having to worry about dropping into Warzone at an exact time, fans will be able to log in and play a special playlist option called Operation Rapid Sunder.
Clicking on this will assign you to a squad and drop you into a small mission which will likely end with the destruction of the map.
Call of Duty Warzone: Activision release trailer for new game
A message from Activision explains: “The situation in Verdansk has hit a critical level. It seems the combat zone has become too dangerous for even a Tier 1 Operator to survive in.
“Is a conflagration imminent? The answer is still unknown, though it is recommended you clear your schedule for the week and ready yourself for a crescendo of utter chaos within the Warzone.
“Be certain you’re available for Operation Rapid Sunder throughout Wednesday, April 21 and beyond.
“Armistice Central Command will be communicating directly to all Operators with further instructions, starting at 12 PM Pacific Time on April 21. Return to the Call of Duty blog—and to Warzone—on this date to receive updates.”
The wording seems to suggest that this will be a repeatable event, meaning it won’t be a timed live event like seen in Fortnite.
A further message adds: “The zombies were only limited to this shipwreck during the initial weeks of the season, but as tracked by Armistice Central Command, the undead moved to different areas of Verdansk.
“At first, it seemed that the zombies only moved from area to area and that no spread was occurring… until, in the most recent Containment Protocol, it was found that contamination stayed within zones, triggering clouds of unknown gas.
“Fortunately, plenty of Gas Masks can be found within these Corruption Zones, but if an Operator dies within one, they perish and turn into one of the slavering undead.”
