Dave Bautista Shares Video In Gears Of War Armour, Still Wants To Be In The Movie

Netflix has revealed it is working on a Gears of War adaptation. Two of them, actually. A movie and an animated series. Surprising no one, Dave Bautista still wants in, reiterating just how good he thinks he'd be at playing Marcus Fenix in the upcoming project.

Bautista has voiced his desire to play Fenix in a Gears of War movie in the past, but now the project has been picked up by Netflix, the former wrestler felt like this would be the right time to remind those in charge of making such decisions that he should be cast (thanks, IGN). Bautista's reminder took the form of a short clip in which he pops open a briefcase and dons some Gears armor.

That wasn't a clip the Guardian of the Galaxy made of his own accord. He was the face of Gears 5 and the clip was used to advertise the most recent installment in the long-running series. “I can't make this any easier,” Bautista tweeted, tagging Netflix and Gears of War to give the tweet a better chance of being seen by the right people. As touched upon, this isn't the first time the Spectre star has attempted to plant the Fenix seed in people's minds.

The actor has been trying to land the role of Fenix for years, admitting during a prior interview that he turned down appearing in The Fast And Furious movies because he was eyeing up a role in the Gears movie instead. “They wanted to talk to me about Fast and the Furious, and I said 'I’m not interested, let’s talk about Marcus Fenix',” Bautista said at the time.

That interview happened when Universal was supposed to be trying to get a Gears movie off the ground, which obviously never happened. Plans to adapt the series have been in place as far back as 2007, just a year after the first game launched. It's probably a blessing in disguise that it has taken this long for the movie to actually happen since video game adaptations are in a far better place and more accepted today than they have ever been before.
