Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have four new free games to download in December, although it’s debatable how exciting they all are.
The last set of Games with Gold games for the year have been announced and, well… they’re probably not going to go down as your most warmly received Christmas presents next month.
Jurassic Park Evolution, from last year, is a shallow but relatively enjoyable park-building sim, of the sort you don’t usually see on consoles, and is probably the highlight of the set.
Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow – Mirror Of Fate HD is from way back in 2013 (you know, when Konami used to make video games) and is a remaster of a 3DS game. We enjoyed it more than most, but it’s always very obvious it started life as a portable game.
Then you’ve also got Toy Story 3: The Video Game, which is from way back in 2010. And although it is actually surprisingly good, it’s clear Microsoft and Sony (with their new PS Plus reveals this week) are scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of games to give away for free.
The final release is no-name indie title Insane Robots, which apparently came out last year.
As ever with Games for Gold, the download times are slightly complicated, with Insane Robots available the whole of December, but Toy Story 3 only from 1 to 15 December.
Meanwhile, Jurassic World Evolution and Castlevania won’t be available until 16 December to 15 January.
That means a couple of this month’s games are still available, with Sherlock Holmes: The Devil’s Daughter and Joy Ride Turbo (no, we’ve never heard of it either) free until the end of the week and The Final Station (ditto) available until 15 December.
