The Elder Scrolls Online is getting a bit more dangerous in June, as this year’s massive Blackwood Chapter will put you up against Mehrunes Dagon himself. Blackwood will be available on June 1 for PC, Mac, and Stadia, then on June 8 the following week for Xbox One and PS4.
Gates of Oblivion is a new, year-long adventure running in Elder Scrolls Online. All content released in 2021 will relate to this narrative, which sees you battling the Daedric Prince as you unravel his ambitions and hope to stop him from taking over Tamriel. The story officially kicks off in March with the Flames of Ambition DLC, but things won’t really heat up until the Blackwood Chapter launches in June.
“The Elder Scrolls Online’s major Chapter update for 2021, Blackwood, will continue the Gates of Oblivion adventure and feature over 30 hours of new story content, allowing you to explore a colorful part of Tamriel where the diverse culture of the Argonians meets with Imperial ambitions,” said Bethesda. Here’s an overview of all the new content you can explore in Blackwood:
- A new zone: Blackwood
- A storyline that ties into the Gates of Oblivion adventure
- New Companions system
- New 12-player Trial: Rockgrove
- New world events: Oblivion Portals
- New delves, public dungeons, world bosses, and stand-alone quests
- Updates and quality-of-life improvements
The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood is now available for pre-order. If you opt to buy it early you’ll be treated to the adorably terrifying Nagahide Welwa Ravager mount and the Nightmare Bear Cub pet. There’s also a bunch of other digital content available if you pre-order, such as a Dremora Kynreeve Outfit and a few Experience Scrolls.
Blackwood is located between the Argonian homeland and the Imperial province of Cyrodiil. Bethesda said the region is “beset by Daedric influence,” and its people struggle with tyrannous leaders and Daedric threats. You’ll need to investigate a conspiracy involving deposed Longhouse Emperors and discover a deadly pact – all of it the creation of Mehrunes Dagon.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood launches on June 1 for PC, Mac, and Stadia, and June 8 for Xbox One and PS4.
