Fortnite servers are down this morning as Epic Games switch off the game as they get ready to release a brand new Fortnite update and 11.21 Patch Notes.
For those unaware, this means matchmaking will be temporarily disabled for all Fortnite modes, which includes the more popular Battle Royale mode, as well as Fortnite Save the World and Fortnite Creative.
Likewise, it's worth noting that this isn't for just one platform, but all platforms. That means players on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile won't be able to log in.
As mentioned, Epic Games are taking Fortnite offline this morning so the team can release the new v11.21 update.
Fortnite's next big update is scheduled to arrive this morning following confirmation of the server downtime early this morning.
“Hi, all. We have maintenance patch v11.21 scheduled for tomorrow.
"Included in this maintenance is the addressal of some known game issues, which you can find on our Trello board.
"|Downtime begins at 4 AM ET (0900 UTC)."
For anyone wondering, this will be at 9 am GMT for everyone living in the UK and 1 am PST for those in the Pacific timezone.
Epic Games has not technically given any details about how long the downtime will last today. However, typically players are normally can experience trouble with logging in roughly 20 minutes before downtime begins.
Though it's not mentioned by Epic Games, Fortnite server downtime typically lasts for a couple of hours at the very least.
It's not clear exactly how accurate a bog-standard service message can be, but it's worth also highlighting that previously the games server status page has suggested that scheduled maintenance for an update of this size and scope will last "09:00-12:00 UTC".
This could quite easily change, nothing is 100% accurate, but for now, we at least have a reasonable idea of how long downtime will take.
Unless of course something catastrophic happens with the update… but should that situation arise, we'll be on hand to update you.
Those intrigued to know what might be fixed today keep reading, we've listed some of the main bugs that are showing as fixed in the next release on the games Trello board.
Fortnite 11.21 Bug fixes
As ever, there will be some fixes coming in the next release. As per theFortnite Trello board, we can infer that some changes could include the following issues, which are marked as fixed in the next release:
• The Show FPS option is missing from the settings in Battle Royale/Creative.
• The refund token count is displaying incorrectly.
We are investigating reports of controller input delay for the following actions in Creative:
• Placing builds
• Switching modes
• Players will encounter billboards with default texture shown if they close the phone tool immediately after pasting the billboard. When players copy and paste the billboard, they can also see a brief flicker of the default texture as well.
• We're aware of an increase of low-detailed buildings on Nintendo Switch and will have this resolved in the next release.
