Between a recent datamine and a comment by the official Tomb Raider Twitter, Fortnite fans believe Lara Croft will be making a cameo.
The current season of Fortnite is already drowning in crossover characters, from the Mandalorian to Master Chief, and more are still to come.
A Predator skin is expected to become available very soon and some fans are convinced that Lara Croft from the Tomb Raider franchise is next.
But while another crossover skin does seem to be on the way, thanks to info discovered by dataminer Mang0e, the evidence for Lara is a real stretch.
The fans think Typhoon is a reference to the beginning of the the 2013 reboot and that Lara may steadily become more bruised and covered in bandages as she takes damage.
There’s also the suggestion that this tweet from the official Tomb Raider account is a reference to Fortnite, specifically the pickaxe, but, yeah…
A new Tomb Raider game called Tomb Raider Reloaded is coming out this year for mobile devices, so a Fortnite appearance would make for a great cross-promotion.
Also, the 2018 movie with Alicia Vikander supposedly has a sequel in the works, so it could be the skin’s release will coincide with a teaser trailer for that.
Judging by the responses to Mang0e’s findings, though, Lara isn’t the only viable possibility. Other popular theories include Sarah Connor from the Terminator movies, Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn, and Samus from Metroid.
Samus is perhaps the most likely given that Fortnite has already had Master Chief and Kratos, and the fact that Samus transforms into her morph ball form, and is an actual bounty hunter.
Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
