Games with Gold October 2020 free Xbox reveal date and time: Fallout 4, Skyrim to appear?

Xbox Gold subscribers are counting down to the October 2020 free Games with Gold reveal.

In an unusual step, Microsoft has left it to the very last minute to announce the free Xbox One and Xbox 360 games for October 2020.

With time running out ahead of the first batch of games going live on October 1, subscribers can expect the Games with Gold reveal to take place today (September 29) at 4pm BST UK time.

The news will be revealed by Microsoft executive Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb on Twitter, so stay tuned for updates.

While the Games with Gold freebies have been pretty disappointing as of late, there’s a chance the quality could improve for October 2020.

With Microsoft now in possession of the entire ZeniMax/Bethesda back catalogue, maybe loyal subscribers will receive a triple-A surprise for October.

Possible October 2020 Games with Gold candidates include The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4, or maybe even Elder Scrolls Online.

With Microsoft offering Backwards Compatible Xbox and Xbox 360 games, there’s also a chance we could see Fallout 3, Oblivion or Morrowind make an appearance.

Then there are games from other ZeniMax studios, such as Dishonored, Dishonored 2 and Prey.

That’s on top of popular shooters like the 2016 Doom reboot, Wolfenstein, or maybe even Doom 3 BFG Edition.

Of course, it will probably end up being something completely underwhelming, so maybe don’t get your hopes up too much.

As we countdown to the release of the Games with Gold October 2020 free games, it’s worth remembering that you can still download the September 2020 freebies.

This includes Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, and original Xbox release Armed and Dangerous.

The pick of the bunch is undoubtedly The Division, which is a massively-multiplayer shooter set in New York.

“New-York City, today. An unprecedented pandemic has struck the city during the fever of Black Friday. One by one, basic services fail. In only days, without food or water, society collapses into chaos.

“You’re part of the Division, an autonomous unit of tactical agents trained to operate independently. Your mission: protect what remains and restore hope.”

Armed and Dangerous, meanwhile, is a third-person shooter game with some rather interesting weapons.

“Meet the Lionhearts, a smack-talking rag-tag band of rebels bound on an impossible quest.

“They’re destined for victory in 12,000 bullets or less. If they can make it through an army of psychotic robots and wall-smashing Goliaths, they just might save the world … If they don’t burn it down first.”
