Since 343 Industries is delaying Halo Infinite’s multiplayer seasons, that means campaign co-op and Forge are being pushed back as well.
While fans are enjoying Halo Infinite’s multiplayer right now and the main game, with its campaign mode, is on track for its December 8 release, it will still be missing some key features.
343 Industries already confirmed that Halo Infinite will not launch with campaign co-op or Forge mode, with both of them delayed to 2022. Unfortunately, 343 has had to push them back a bit further.
Speaking with Eurogamer, 343’s head of creative Joseph Staten explained that, with the first season of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer content extended to May 2022, the second and third seasons won’t be starting until later than originally planned.
Since the campaign co-op and Forge mode features are releasing alongside season two and season three respectively, this means they’re delayed along with them.
Staten refuses to share hard dates for when seasons two and three will start, only saying that season 2 and campaign co-op won’t arrive until May at the absolute earliest.
‘Yes, we are extending season one. So our goal still remains what I said before, which is to ship campaign co-op with season two and Forge with season three. But those remain goals. Those remain targets. And we can’t commit to any hard dates right now, because as we’re seeing with this multiplayer beta, other things might move up in the priority stack for us.’
It’s rather unprecedented for a Halo game to release without campaign co-op or the Forge mode. But Halo Infinite hasn’t exactly had the smoothest development cycle.
It was meant to release alongside the launch of the Xbox Series X/S last year and would have served as its killer app. But after last year’s gameplay reveal and the ensuing mockery, it was decided to push its release back by a whole year.
Things have definitely improved since then, with the multiplayer garnering a mostly positive reception, and the campaign already shaping up to be popular with long-time fans of the series.
Halo Infinite releases for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on December 8.
