Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is adding Sand as a brand-new Copy Ability for Kirby, alongside confirming that Festival from Kirby Star Allies will also make an appearance.
When Return to Dream Land Deluxe was first revealed during the most recent Nintendo Direct, a new Copy Ability, Mecha, was confirmed to debut alongside the remaster. Although many assumed that it was just Mecha being added to the game, Nintendo has confirmed a second new Copy Ability – Sand.
Images shared by the Nintendo UK Twitter account and Kirby's Japanese Twitter account give us a brief glimpse at what the ability can do. One screenshot shows Kirby throwing a wave of sand at his enemies, while another sees him creating a sandcastle, likely as some kind of uppercut. Speaking of uppercuts, Kirby is also seen literally throwing hands in one of the screenshots, although it looks more like it's trying to grab than punch.
Sand isn't the only Copy Ability recently confirmed to make an appearance in Return To Dream Land Deluxe. As reported by Nintendo Life, the Japanese Kirby Twitter account also confirmed that Festival will be featured in the game, after having been introduced in Kirby Star Allies. Unlike Mecha and Sand, Festival is a screen-clearing ability that can only be used once, working similarly to Crash.
New and returning Copy Abilities weren't the only things revealed for Return to Dream Land Deluxe, as the Japanese website for the game has been updated with some new information. The site reveals that players can unlock masks to customise their characters with, and that Kirby now has the ability to hold onto items for future use, like he did in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
