Spider-Man fans in New York City are in for a bit of a treat during their morning commute. Promotion for Spider-Man: No Way Home has led to real-life newsstands of The Daily Bugle popping up in the city streets. You can nab a limited-edition Spider-Man newspaper, but you better act fast because they're sure to be gone quicker than you can say “web-slinger”.
Fans have been sharing encounters with the pop-up newsstands all over social media. Screenshots from the lucky folks that were able to get one of the limited edition newspapers show what the news it contains. The paper is filled with fake articles that encompass the previous two films in the trilogy. Stories like “Mysterio-Mania month Upcoming” and “Drone Perception Takes a Nosedive” harken back to the plot of Spider-Man: Far From Home. Meanwhile, other articles hint at what can be expected in the upcoming sequel like a wanted ad for a “Tentacled man” that resembles Alfred Molina’s, Doctor Octopus.
Of course, the biggest plot point for the upcoming Spidey flick is the fact that Peter Parker has been outed as the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The Daily Bugle kiosks are adorned with photos of Parker along with the phrase “Public Enemy #1”. In classic J. Jonah Jameson fashion, the papers call for the arrest of Parker and for Spider-Man to answer for all of his “crimes” against the city.
These newsstands are just one of several ways that Sony and Marvel have been hyping the third installment of the Tom Holland-led Spider-Man films. A recent Daily Bugle TikTok account shows several videos from Angourie Rice’s Betty Brant character as she interns at the fictional newspaper. It almost feels like the world of Spider-Man is bleeding into our own, which is a smart promotional move considering the film is all about the blending of multiverses.
Hype for No Way Home is currently at an all-time high with the web-slinger popping up all over the place. Tickets for the film’s release-day have sold out practically everywhere and scalpers are now selling them on eBay for ridiculous prices. It looks like the film will shape up to be a big hit for Sony and Marvel when it comes to theaters on December 17.
