Mortal Shell: Imrod the Unrepentant Boss Guide

If you’re struggling against this heavy hitting boss in Mortal Shell, our guide will help you bring Imrod the Unrepentant to his knees.

Waiting for you at the end of the Shrine of Ash zone of Mortal Shell is none other than Imrod the Unrepentant, and he’s not pleased to see you. After you arrive in the Sancrum of Flame, make sure you’ve saved with Sester Genessa before starting the battle by drinking from the nearby chalice. He’s going to have two phases, so be ready for a heated battle, but a not too difficult gland run at the end.

How To Beat Imrod The Inrepentant In Mortal Shell

Phase 1

Imrod’s primary plan in this fight is to bash you with his giant mace, but he does have a few other tricks to throw at you during this phase. Despite his brutish appearance, he actually has options you need to remember at just about all ranges. One move you need to be very careful about is when he jumps into the air and smashes his mace down. If you happen to be under him when this happens you’ll be flattened like a pancake so dodge it at all costs.

When you close in to get some hits in, stay away from his front no matter what. When you’re right up in his face like that he can shoot out a cone of fiery lava directly ahead of him. But, don’t stay backed off too long or he’ll do his rush attack. Again, looks are a bit deceiving and Imrod is rather fast for his size. If you see him rushing you, be ready to avoid a two hit combo that can really take your health down.

Rolling out of his path when he rushes is your best chance to get safe damage in. Get out of the way, get in with a combo, and then back out if he gets too aggressive. Depending on what weapon or skills you’re using you might get a stagger during that window, so capitalize on that if you do. Once you drain his lifebar all the way down you’ll enter his second phase.

Phase 2

Rather than get a whole new suite of moves for this phase, Imrod just becomes harder to predict. All the moves you know from phase one remain, but he has the tendency to start the animation for one only to change to another attack in the middle. Don’t trust he’s going to do any move you see him winding up for until he actually starts using it.

Two new moves will show up, though. One is the same type of retaliation kick you saw when fighting Crucix the Twiceborn. Just like in that fight, don’t get caught by it when attacking. The other move is more situational, but usually comes out when you get knocked down. Imrod will find one of the corpses littering the area and hurl it at you. You’ll see this coming with tons of time to react, so use it as a chance to dodge in and get a few easy hits in.

Aside from those tricks, Imrod should go down no problem as long as you don’t over commit and pay attention to his tells.

Grab The Gland And Run

Along with the gland, make sure you also pick up the Glimpse of Annihilation for some upgrade currency before you start the run. The run itself might be the easiest one there is, assuming you helped yourself out on the way through the zone by opening all the locked doors and such. Just sprint on through and don’t stop for anything until you reach the Old Prisoner back in Fallgrim Tower.
