Nier: Automata tells a tale of humanity and emotion through robots and androids who, theoretically, wouldn’t feel either of those things. Much like the game’s story, this Nier: Automata statue’s price will make you cry.
Nier: Automata tells the story of humanity’s future failure—and success. The game is set over 9,000 years in the future and follows the stories of three androids. Each playthrough has you repeating the campaign’s story but from the perspective of a different android. Each time around also uncovers more and more of the story and deepens your connection to the game’s universe. The end, of course, ties everything together with one final emotionally charged decision that needs to be made.
Now, Square Enix is teaming up with premium merchandiser Prime 1 to bring you a one-of-a-kind statue honoring the game. It features all three protagonists, who have been recreated in exquisite detail, as they stand atop a vanquished foe. Of course, Prime 1 is well known not just for its incredible pieces, but also for its incredibly high prices.
A price hasn’t officially been announced, but it wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for this piece to run you $1,000 or more. The statue looks to be roughly one and a half feet tall and is painstakingly hand-painted. Given the amount of time it must take to complete just one of these statues, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a tear-inducing price. Of course, you would need to compare this statue with other pieces of game merchandise to get a good sense of the value of it. Merchandise such as the Pikachu hat that sold for $500 or Ellie’s guitar from The Last of U 2 which is going for $2,300.
Art, though, is subjective and each piece is going to be worth more or less to the individual looking at it. However, we can safely say that the amount of detail—and the mere fact that each statue is hand-painted—makes the price of this statue, whatever that may be, worth it. It’s sure to be a point of interest in your home, wherever you decide to put it.
