The DC Universe is dead, long live the DC Universe. The new slate of DC films and television shows has been revealed, and it's bad news for fans of Zack Snyder's Justice League.
The first phase in this rebooted universe will be called Chapter 1 – Gods & Monsters. It will feature new films, Superman: Legacy and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, as well as TV shows such as a new Green Lantern series, as well as an Amanda Waller spin-off.
More developments are coming out about this universe by the minute, but so far, it seems that Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher, and Ezra Miller have all been ditched, with only Jason Momoa having any new projects revealed. This means that Momoa will reprise his role as Aquaman in a third movie, confirmed before we even have a trailer for the second film.
This new slate of films does, however, confirm that The Flash hasn't been abandoned altogether, with Gunn saying that it's "one of the greatest superhero movies ever made." However, it's not clear if DC Studios will be working with Miller beyond this, in light of recent, highly publicized controversies.
As for the newly announced projects, we already have some release dates. Superman: Legacy – which won't star Henry Cavill – is aiming to premiere on July 11, 2025. Shortly after, we'll get The Batman – Part II, releasing October 3, 2025. Supergirl, Swamp Thing, and The Authority are all receiving the film treatment too, although these projects don't have release dates just yet. There will also be a DC Universe version of Batman, separate from Robert Pattinson's take on the character.
Other than that, some smaller announcements are being made too. Superman & Lois will get "one or two" more seasons before it concludes. Waller's spin-off series will take place in between seasons one and two of Peacemaker, presumably airing between them too.
