New Warzone map leaked via Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War videos claim fans

Fans studying new videos for Cold War think they’ve pieced together what the new map for Warzone is going to look like.

This year, like every year, there’s going to be a new Call Of Duty game and no doubt there’ll be another next year as well. But the idea with free-to-play battle royale Warzone is that it will continue on regardless, just with changes and additions to reflect the current paid-for game.

How exactly that’s going to work isn’t clear yet, because the switch from Modern Warfare to Cold War will be the first one, but it seems increasingly likely that Warzone will be getting a brand-new map.

The current Warzone map was cut up and used to form the basis for the Ground War maps in Modern Warfare and so using that logic fans have suggested that these shots from Cold War’s multiplayer give an accurate preview of what Warzone will turn into.

The theory caught traction on Reddit after one of the maps was found to be called Firebomb, which is a reference that’s also been found by dataminers in Warzone.

What complicates matters though is that Cold War is not believed to have a Ground War mode, although some rumours suggest that while it won’t have a mode with that name there will be something else that’s very similar in concept – including using content from Warzone to make its maps.

A previous leak on Reddit suggested that the new Warzone map will be set in Russia, with location names including Mines, Chemical Lab, Weather Station, Ski Slopes, Duga [likely a reference to the Duga radar system], Zoo, and Battery.

Going by the signage, at least one of the locations in the video clips does seem to be Russia but given that’s already known to be one of the main locations of the game that doesn’t really prove anything.

The leaker also suggests that the new Warzone map will be ‘a bit smaller’ than the current one but ‘more open’.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on November 13.
