Blizzard has finally announced Overwatch 2 with a brand new trailer at BlizzCon 2019 that comes off a love letter for the original game and all it’s achieved since launch.
The trailer reintroduces us to some familiar faces from the first game, as well as showing us new character, Echo – an old acquaintance of McCree’s.
The gang take down a hug Omnic in Paris and save the day in typically explosive fashion – and there’s even a reference to Arnie’s Mr Freeze pun, too, which we weren’t expecting.
The game will ship with a new
The new game, a sequel to the massively successful hero shooter that’s taken the world by storm, was announced at BlizzCon’s opening ceremony in Anaheim, LA.
The game, which we’ve seenleaked and hinted at in various rumoursleading up to the event, was formally unveiled by Blizzard.
The game will build on the first Overwatch title, by adding new modes and heroes to the roster, and will also add a fan requested PvE mode, too.
The first part of the PvE mode, Rio de Janeiro, will be demoed live at BlizzCon over the weekend.
The new mode, Hero Missions, are sold as ‘highly replayable co-op’ and will be introduced with the ability for players to customise hero abilities, too.
“The Hero Missions are based around you levelling up your heroes, learning more skills and getting that sense of progression,” explains Jeff Kaplan.
The new game mode, Push, in which a chatty little robot… pushes things… for you as you try to control the map.
Speaking of which, there will be more maps (with some on Toronto and Ilois) coming into the game, too – more details on that will be shared soon.
Overwatch 2 will be playable on the show floor at BlizzCon, and you can check out the new Toronto map and the new Push game mode.
We’ll be getting hands on with the new game very soon, so stay tuned to Daily Star for our gameplay preview very soon.
