It’s finally that time when the PlayStation Plus free games are revealed by Sony… well almost. Because of the way the dates fall, PS Plus subscribers will have to wait until the very last day of the month to find out the free PS4 and PS5 games for December. Worse still, the Essential freebies won’t actually be available to download until the following week!

Indeed, Sony will reveal the PlayStation Plus Essentials at 4.30pm UK time on November 30. The games will launch just under a week later on the morning of December 6.

While it’s a long time to wait, the flipside is that subscribers have more time to download the current batch of free games.

This includes the excellent Nioh 2, not to mention LEGO Harry Potter Collection and Heavenly Bodies.

Nioh 2 is a critically-acclaimed Souls-like game set in a fictionalised Sengoku-era Japan. It features superb hack-and-slash combat, monstrous enemies and satisfyingly challenging gameplay.

Sony explains more: “Master the lethal arts of the samurai as a mysterious half-human, half-supernatural Yokai warrior, in this challenging action RPG sequel.

“Explore violent Sengoku-era Japan and the deadly Dark Realm, both plagued with grotesque, merciless demons.

“Unsheathe your deadly weapons and cut down all enemies in your path using a revamped combat system and the ability to transform into a full Yokai to unleash devastating paranormal powers.”

If you’re looking for something completely different, then LEGO Harry Potter Collection is a much more family-friendly release.

Playable solo and with friends, the game covers the young wizard’s entire tenure at Hogwarts.

“This compilation unites the creative prowess of LEGO and the expansive world of Harry Potter, with an exciting journey full of spell-casting, potion-making, puzzle-solving, lessons, duelling and much more for players of all ages to enjoy.”

Finally, Heavenly Bodies is a physics-based puzzle game set aboard a space station.

All three PS4 and PS5 games can be downloaded until the morning of December 6, so don’t delay.
