PS4 games WARNING: Shock reveal could mean big news for PlayStation exclusive release

PS4 games fans received surprise news about one of the big upcoming exclusives from Sony PlayStation.

The PlayStation platform has an impressive list of exclusive titles that have also managed to win plenty of good reviews.

Games like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn will remain big PlayStation franchises in the future and the tech giant are looking to expand their list of unique IPs further.

New PS4 exclusives are expected to be released this year, with hopes high that Death Stranding and The Last of Us Part 2 will be among them.

Days Gone is the only one with a set release date, leaving some fans to wonder what could be revealed next.

Ghost of Tsushima is currently in development at Sucker Punch Productions and drew a lot of interest when it was showcased at E3 2018.

Since then, news has been thin on the ground and a surprise reveal this week has led some to believe it is not as far along in production as first thought.

A new job listing has sparked interest among fans because it points to an intriguing question.

Can the Ghost of Tsushima development team be looking for a narrative writer and also be ready to launch the game before the end of 2019, early 2020?

The job listing found on Gamasutra has sparked plenty of debate over how far the PS4 exclusive has reached in its development cycle.

There are direct references to story development and narrative contributions, which doesn’t give much away.

The job listing also states that the job would including focusing on “secondary game content” which is another interesting line.

Could we be looking at filler content to help flesh out the world? Fans will certainly hope so.

Here’s more from the official job description, which reads: “Sucker Punch is looking for a Narrative Writer to help create engaging narrative content for our upcoming project, Ghost of Tsushima.

“Daily tasks will include story development, game dialogue, and general narrative contribution. The ideal candidate will have previous success as a game writer, outstanding dialogue skills, an excellent understanding of story and game structure, experience in a writers’ room setting, and a passion to tell great stories in an open-world game.

“Responsibilities: Write high-quality dialogue under tight deadlines for a diverse cast of characters who live in the world of 13th century Japan.

“Work closely with content designers to write missions for an open-world game.

“Contribute to other creative areas of the narrative including secondary game content, dialogue barks, and writing content for marketing materials.”

A recent retail listing from a European outlet suggested that new PS4 game could be released in August. It stated that Ghost of Tsushima would be launching at the end of the month, offering an August 30 date for fans.

There’s been a lot of cases in the past where these kinds of filings have been proven as mere placeholders. So with the current evidence available to fans, there’s a chance we could be waiting longer to explore the events surrounding the invasion of the Japanese islands.

For more on the upcoming release, you can read the teaser information shared by Sucker Punch Productions below.

“Ghost of Tsushima is an epic, open-world samurai adventure set during the Mongol invasion of Japan in 1274. We’re telling an original story set in the world of feudal Japan—a time of warfare, chaos, and violent change. You play as Jin Sakai, a powerful samurai warrior whose adventure draws on Japanese history and the iconic traditions of samurai cinema to craft a gorgeous tale of revenge, empowerment, and hope.

“In this story, Jin fights alongside another samurai—a deadly onna-bugeisha named Masako. They joined forces to save their homeland from the Mongol invaders, but Masako’s tragic personal history drives a wedge in her relationship with Jin. As you’ve seen, this ends up forcing them into a duel at the end of the experience.

“Masako and her story are one of many side characters and quests that form the fabric of Ghost of Tsushima.

“These characters will play important parts in Jin’s main storyline, but most of them will also have side quests and stories for you to explore.”
