There’s no sign of a new Splinter Cell game but Sam Fisher is in the next Rainbow Six Siege expansion, just without his iconic voice actor.

Ubisoft has announced that Sam Fisher, star of the Splinter Cell franchise, will be part of the Operation Shadow Legacy expansion for Rainbow Six Siege.

Although there’s a blog post to accompany the teaser trailer it doesn’t share any real information and the full reveal isn’t due to take place until Sunday, 16 August at 7pm BST.

In the meantime though the teaser implies that Michael Ironside will not be voicing the character, despite having done so for the last two Ghost Recon games.

Sam Fisher will join Rainbow Six Siege as specialist ‘Zero’ which presumably means you’ll be able to play as him like any of the other characters.

He also starred in DLC for Ghost Recon: Wildlands and Breakpoint and that never led to his own game, so it’s best not to make any assumptions about his appearance in Rainbow Six Siege.

Although there’s been no new game for almost seven years now Sam Fisher is also due to appear in upcoming mobile game Elite Squad, much to the dismay of his fans.

He’s also set to star in his own Netflix series, from one of the writers of John Wick, which implies Ubisoft want to return him to his former glory, even if they haven’t pulled the trigger on a standalone game yet.
