Watch Dogs Legion trailer shows off futuristic London – confirms release date

Ubisoft has released a full gameplay trailer for Watch Dogs Legion, set in a futuristic dystopian London.

During Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, the company debuted the first trailer for the third entry in the franchise, which introduces a new perma-death mechanic with some questionable cockney accents.

Taking place in a near future London overrun by extremists, the trailer kicks off by introducing DeadSec member Ian, who takes down mobile drones and uses a cloaking device to avoid close encounters.

After he’s killed, the player picks from a line-up of fellow Resistance members who are all playable – with the video showing the elderly Helen joining the fight with a spider drone.

A combat heavy segment is also shown around Camden market with Naomi, with the city itself looking particularly impressive.

The mission of the game is to fight back against the authoritarian regime, with players able to recruit anyone roaming around in the world by completing their respective ‘origin mission’, making them playable in your line-up.

All characters are fully animated, voiced, and have their own respective personality, which will have an impact on cinematics throughout the game.

Ubisoft previously confirmed the title’s existence in the run-up to E3, following a leak on Amazon UK which gave away the game’s London setting.

It represents the third game in the Watch Dogs franchise following 2014’s original title and 2016 sequel set in San Francisco.

Watch Dogs Legion is available on 6 March 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
