The long-awaited update to Christian Marcussen’s hit board game Clash of Cultures will have to wait a little longer. WizKids is producing Clash of Cultures: Monumental Edition, which will add on an expansion, an army of high-quality miniatures, and some new content as well. But like everything else in 2020, this amazing new edition is getting delayed.
Wizkids put out an update with a lot of pictures to show just how much work is going into Clash of Cultures: Monumental Edition. The many different types of figurines are shown, as are colorful decks of cards and varying terrain pieces. There’s also some impressive totals included – the game will have 350 miniatures, over 150 cards, and sculpted versions of the seven wonders for the first time in the game’s history.
It’s clear that a lot of work is going into designing and manufacturing all these pieces, which is why WizKids made the decision to push the game’s release back to Spring 2021. The reasoning is that it’s the only way to ensure quality befitting a “Monumental Edition” among all the uncertainties of the past year. The game is also being raised $10, for a total of $149.99, to offset the cost of all these detailed pieces.
