Immortals Fenyx Rising (the game previously called Gods & Monsters) now has a release date. The upcoming Greek mythology-inspired game will be released on December 3.
During September 2020’s Ubisoft Forward, a new trailer for Ubisoft Quebec’s Fenyx Rising was released. The trailer showcases protagonist Fenyx fighting mythological monsters across four different regions, each ruled by one of the four gods that Fenyx has to save over the course of the game.
If you’re looking to check out Fenyx Rising ahead of its release, a free demo is scheduled to go live exclusively on Google Stadia. To play the demo, all you’ll need is a Gmail account.
Fenyx Rising is an open-world action game that has drawn comparisons to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Fenyx is a demigod who sets out to save the Greek gods, and Greek mythology plays a key role, as you’ll encounter the likes of enemies like the Cyclops, Minotaur, and Medusa.
We’ve had the chance to play a two-hour preview demo of Fenyx Rising. Afterwards, we spoke to game director Scott Phillips about why Ubisoft decided to change the game’s name, how the game is designed to be explored in a nonlinear manner, and how one of the game’s scarier but still intriguing features works.
Immortals Fenyx Rising will be the third open-world game from Ubisoft to release this year, closing following Watch Dogs Legion (which is set to launch on October 29) and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (which has been moved up to launch alongside Xbox Series X and S on November 10). That’s three giant open-world games in as many months. Better set aside some time this holiday season.
