If you’ve been itching to replay BioWare’s sci-fi trilogy but want to experience the best possible version of it, here’s some good news: Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which puts together all three games plus all of the story and character add-ons in one package, will be released May 14.
The remaster will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One, but of course, they’ll run via backward compatibility on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While the core of the games has remained the same, the first Mass Effect has been revamped to play more like its sequels. Things like weapon balance, boss encounters, and squad AI have all been beefed up, and the first game will also feature an updated interface.
Beyond nicer textures and 4K resolution, the Mass Effect remasters will offer better environmental details, an expanded character creation suite, and more. You can read our preview here.
BioWare is also working on a new Mass Effect game set in the same universe, but development is still in the early stages.
