One Punch Man is getting its first ever console game based on the series. The upcoming fighting game, One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows, is “coming soon” to PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
A new trailer released today shows off some of the action between the titular character, Saitama, as well as some of his most well-known cohorts. The game’s art style seems to be following the trend of other anime fighting games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and the My Hero Academia’s brawler by remaining visually faithful to its animated source material. While Bandai Namco’s news release states that the game will feature “3 vs. 3 battles, where players can form powerful teams,” the game’s first trailer only shows off simple, one-on-one gameplay.
It isn’t clear how the game will be balanced, considering the story’s main character can destroy any foe in a single punch, however One Punch Man is seen attacking his partner Genos with multiple hits like a standard fighting game. Other characters across the series are revealed in the trailer, like the lighting fast ninja Speed-o’-Sound Sonic and Mumen Rider, a character who’s as strong as the average man and rides a bicycle.
There aren’t any details at the moment about how One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows will implement a multi-character battle system or how many other characters will appear in the game. The trailer ends with a shot of Lord Boros, who was the main villain of the anime’s first season.
One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows is being developed by Spike Chunsoft, the studio behind fighting games Jump Force and One Piece: Burning Blood.
