Resident Evil Village’s multiplayer mode coming this summer

Capcom’s latest attempt to transform Resident Evil into a multiplayer game, the free bonus mode for Resident Evil Village known as Resident Evil Re:Verse, has been delayed. Originally expected to release alongside Village in May, Resident Evil Re:Verse is now slated to launch sometime this summer, according to the game’s website.

Resident Evil Re:Verse pits four to six players in a Resident Evil-inspired deathmatch. Pitched as a celebration of the survival horror franchise’s 25th anniversary, Re:Verse features Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Nemesis, Hunk, Chris Redfield, Ada Wong, and Jack Baker as playable characters. The Resident Evil mash-up comes with a cel-shaded comic book aesthetic that aims to unify the past and present of the series.

Capcom has conducted multiple beta tests for Resident Evil Re:Verse, some of which have experienced technical issues that could have led to a delayed release for the mode.

Resident Evil Village will be released worldwide on May 7, for Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. In addition to a single-player campaign, Village will also bring back the beloved Mercenaries mode, which should hold Resident Evil fans over until Re:Verse’s summertime release.
