Star Wars: Republic Commando, the much-loved squad tactics shooter from 2005 that was ported to Xbox One in 2018, is now coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. This in fact marks the game’s debut on PlayStation and Nintendo, as the original was an Xbox and Windows PC exclusive. Vode An!
Aspyr is handling the port. Star Wars: Republic Commando will launch for Switch and PS4 (it will be playable on PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility) on April 6 and cost $14.99, available in both consoles’ online stores. Though 16 years old, the game has a strong following among Star Wars fans, and it was also spun off into five paperback adaptations by Karen Traviss. The revival is a single-player only experience (Republic Commando had a less-remembered multiplayer mode) with modernized controls.
In Republic Commando, players lead the Republic’s Delta Squad as clone trooper Delta-38 (Boss), directing teammates Fixer, Scorch, and Sev with tactical maneuvers like breach-and-clear, set sniper position, and hacking locked doors. Temuera Morrison, the voice of clone daddy Jango Fett in the prequel trilogy — and who returned in the latest season of The Mandalorian as Boba — voices Delta-38.
Update: Aspyr confirmed that Star Wars: Republic Commando is also launching on Nintendo Switch, same date and same price.
