Microsoft will also offer full Cyberpunk 2077 refunds

Microsoft announced Friday that it will offer full refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 if players purchased the game from the Microsoft Store. It is still currently available to purchase on the Microsoft Store.

The Xbox maker is following Sony’s lead, at least with the refund part. On Thursday, Sony Interactive Entertainment posted on Twitter that the company is offering refunds, following previous reports that refunds were hard to come by. However, Sony also removed Cyberpunk 2077 from its PlayStation Store until further notice.

Cyberpunk 2077: To ensure that every player can get the experience they expect on Xbox, we will be expanding our existing refund policy to offer full refunds to anyone who purchased Cyberpunk 2077 digitally from the Microsoft Store, until further notice,” Microsoft tweeted from the Xbox Support account. “While we know the developers at CD PROJEKT RED have worked hard to ship Cyberpunk 2077 in extremely challenging circumstances, we also realize that some players have been unhappy with the current experience on older consoles.”

Microsoft also noted that it did already give refunds to “the vast majority of customers who have requested one.” The company is pointing customers looking for refunds to its website.

Cyberpunk 2077 players on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 began reporting major problems with the game since it launched on Dec. 10. Publisher CD Projekt apologized to players on Monday “for not showing the game on base last-gen consoles before it premiered and, in consequence, not allowing [players] to make a more informed decision.” The apology pointed customers toward Microsoft, Sony, and other retailers, to ask for refunds. Store policies, however, prevented dissatisfied players from actually getting refunds. Put simply, it was a fiasco.

Cyberpunk 2077 is working better on current generation consoles like Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as on Windows PC. On last-gen consoles, players are reporting that it’s still not an optimal experience. Bugs range from game-breaking to downright silly.
